Seeing tulips in winter!

Being a guide in The Netherlands, learning more about the Tulips is a must! The only problem is that Tulips bloom in the fields only for a short period of time in April and May. Fortunately there are more ways of enjoying our National Flower – because we grow them in wintertime in green houses!

I did some research and was invited by a Tulip growing family in the North of Holland, family Munster from the village of Slootdorp, 45 minutes north of Amsterdam. What a warm welcome I received by Siem, Sandra and their 4 young daughters. Siem and his wife are running a large and successful Tulip farm 5,5 meters below sea level. She opened the doors to the Tulip farm to tell me everything on the different stages of growing the Tulips, the different kinds and above all I have seen thousands of Tulips in wintertime! I could take plenty of photos.

The warm welcome of Sandra and her family was a delight, it was my highlight last weekend and it would be great to go back to Sandra and her family with anyone being just as enthusiastic as I am to see Tulips in wintertime!
